n 1919 werd het Gouvernementsziekenhuis te Kabandjahe gesticht op initiatief van GG Van Limburg Stirum. Met verschillende overheidssubsidies en hulp van het Batak instituut in Leiden duurde het nog tot januari 1924 voordat het officieel werd geopend.
